Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you are new to chiropractic or you have been adjusted more times than you can remember, many people still have questions about this highly effective and natural form of health care. Below are the FAQ we’re most often asked, and Dr. Jackie’s responses:

Once I go to a chiropractor, will I always have to go?

How long you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is totally your choice. Our goal is to help your body reorganize its response to stress, from the inside out, and create new strategies to deal with future stress, injuries, or illness, without having to dependent upon any individual to “fix you” or keep you in alignment. Most of our patients choose continued wellness care after an initial time with corrective spinal care.

Do all chiropractors pop and twist your spine?

Absolutely not. There are literally hundreds of different ways to adjust the spine and many techniques use light force instruments with no twisting, or very light gentle touch, like NetworkSpinal™ entrainment contacts.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Our precise spinal entrainment contacts are gentle, safe, and effective for all ages, with no twisting, cracking, or popping of the spine. As your body unwinds tension, soreness can sometimes occur after a session, this is a natural part of your body changing, just like when you start a new exercise program.

Can chiropractic cure everything?

Chiropractic can’t “cure” everything, nothing can, but what’s true is that if you have a healthier spine and better functioning nervous system (the main control system of your body) then your body has a better chance of feeling well, functioning better, and aging with less pain, symptoms, and illness. No matter what, chiropractic adds life to years and years to life.

Why would I have my infant or child adjusted?

The birth process can be traumatic, and many humans experience their first spinal subluxation during the birth process. If they are lucky they will have it found and corrected while young, the sooner the better. Chiropractic is a drugless, natural way to create greater health and vitality for anyone with a spine, regardless of their age, by correcting vertebral subluxations. Children deserve care too and they respond very quickly and positively. Dr. Jackie is experienced in helping many children with common childhood ailments like ear infections, colic, torticollis, behavioral issues, digestive disorders, delayed reflexes and more, to function better and thrive in life. Check out our ChiroKids page for more information.

Can chiropractic help with colic and how?

Yes, chiropractic can help with various GI issues. The vagus nerve originates in the brainstem/upper cervical spine and has branches to face, heart, and instestines to name a few. When nerves are not functioning one hundred percent, due to vertebral subluxation, a baby can have dysfunction in their bowels. Chiropractic corrects subluxations and restores health and healing.

Does insurance cover chiropractic visits?

Insurance coverage depends on the patient’s specific coverage and deductible, and coverage is quite limited in most situations, especially for wellness care. All chiropractic care is covered by flex spending and health savings cards; however, our technique does not use manual manipulation (popping of the spine) and therefore may not be included under limited sickness care insurance.

How much will care cost me?

We always start with a complimentary consultation. We need to make sure your case is appropriate for chiropractic care, and you need to ensure our is the type of care you’re looking for. Future care depends on your specific case, and we provide many options from monthly to annual discounted care plans (for individuals, families, and partners) to pay per visit.

Do I need a referral from my physician?

No, you don’t need a referral to see a chiropractor unless your insurance company requires one. In that case yours may be a non-covered case. Being a wellness clinic, of course our patients insist on utilizing natural health care regardless of sick care insurance coverage or not.

Do you work with medical doctors, acupuncturists, etc?

We often coordinate with other practitioners. There are some cases that can be out of our scope, and when this is the case, we will direct the patient to the right place for the situation.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Whether you get adjusted on the first visit or the second depends on your case. Dr. Jackie will sometimes take extra time to review previous MRIs, CT scans, etc. before providing chiropractic care, or she may refer you out for X-rays when needed. If that is the case, she will review everything with you when you return for your Report of Findings visit, before you receive your first adjustment. You will appreciate seeing the results and understanding what’s going on with your body.

Will you suggest exercises or other things I can do to help my progress?

Absolutely, we will provide instructions, exercises, and other homework based upon your specific exam findings, to help you move towards a healthier spine as quickly and healthily as possible. You are with your spine more than we are so your participation is absolutely required for you to obtain your greatest results.

Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

Yes. We see many people who have had some form of spinal surgery and our care is very gentle, safe, and specific. As always, we start with a consultation to see if the case is appropriate and a complete examination will be needed to move forward with care.
